dc.description.abstract Purpose – This study determines the nexus between spiritual leadership and psychological safety (PS). The authors explore the mediating role of PS and knowledge sharing to offer insights on how spiritual leadership can be advanced to better understand and support intellectual capital. Design/methodology/approach – Data were collected using convenience sampling from the Pakistani automobile manufacturing industry. SPSS statistical software was used for descriptive analysis and hypotheses were tested by using the partial least square-structural equation modeling method. Findings – The results demonstrate that spiritual leadership has a significant positive impact on PS; PS has a positive impact on knowledge sharing (KS) and KS has a positive impact on intellectual capital. Furthermore, PS mediates between spiritual leadership and KS. KS mediates between PS and human, social and organizational capital. Spiritual leadership also affects outside the boundaries of the organization and builds strong social relations with suppliers, buyers, etc. Research limitations/implications – This study provides a deeper understanding of spiritual leadership in the context of KS and intellectual capital in the automobile sector of Pakistan. Practical implications – This study encourages managers to nurture a philosophy of altruistic love that exerts a positive influence on employees. It will enrich their experience and promote a culture of KS. Social implications – This study has social implications for organizations seeking to situate their inclusive goals in society. The findings of this study can help promote harmony as employees who feel psychologically safe are more willing to spread it in society. He holds Ph.D. in Human Resource Management at Graduate School of Business, Universiti Sains Malaysia. His area of interest includes leadership, turnover intention, discrimination and green HRM. He has published papers in high impact factor journals e.g. Journal of Knowledge Management, Gender in Management and Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management. Dr Shaohua Yang is currently an Associate Professor at School of Business, Anhui University of Technology, Maanshan, China. He has accomplished a Post-Doctoral Fellow from Graduate School of Business, Universiti Sains Malaysia. He holds Ph.D. in Tourism Marketing at Graduate School of Business, Universiti Sains Malaysia. He was also a PhD exchange student (Erasmus funding) in Adam Smith Business School at University of Glasgow, United Kingdom. His research interest lies in destination marketing, luxury brand, cross-cultural tourism, tourist behavior and special interest tourism. He has published many articles in a variety of SSCI journals such as Journal of Destination Marketing and Management, Tourism Management Perspective, Tourism Review, Asia Pacific Journal of Marketing and Logistics and European Journal of International Management. Shaohua Yang is the corresponding author and can be contacted at: samuelyang0713@hotmail.com Aydan Huseynova is an early career researcher. She is a PhD scholar at Tomas Bata University in Zlín, Czech Republic. Her broader research interest includes employer branding, organizational commitment, social media marketing and firm level performance. Dr Muhammad Atif is working as associate professor of CSR and sustainability at EDC Paris Business School. He has taught extensively as visiting professor in various French business schools since 2009. Over the years, he has developed an innovative and interactive approach to teaching. He uses a diverse set of instructional methods in my classroom – games, demos, videos, cases, quizzes, debates and guest speakers. His teaching interests include “corporate social responsibility”, “business ethics”, “sustainability”,“strategic management”, and “international business”. He is also the referent person for CSR (corporate social responsibility) of the school. As CSR head he works closely with the faculty to develop courses in CSR, sustainability and social entrepreneurship.
