Abstract: In this study we investigate the effect of the cognitive factor setting on the performance of the PSO algorithm. The cognitive factor is one of the few control parameters of the original PSO algorithm that has direct effect on the trajectories of the particles. The IEEE CEC 2015 benchmark set is used to test the performance. © 2017 Author(s).
