dc.description.abstract The contribution aims to highlight the importance of parents in the child's home preparation at the beginning of school attendance. An integral part of the school teaching of Czech pupils is the regular preparation for school involving homework, home learning and other partial home preparation. Especially at the start of school attendance, this activity becomes an entirely new matter for parents in the education of their child. Qualitatively oriented research survey with 23 parents of children of preschool and the younger school year through semi-structured interviews was realised. The research aimed to reveal the importance attached by parents to the child's home preparation, from pre-school age, when their ideas about home preparation are made. Subsequently, the parents of pupils at the first stage of the primary school, whose conditioning is already daily and systematic, were explored. The research findings point to initial expectations and an ensuing confrontation with reality in the course of the child's home preparation. A significant problem seems to be the initial non-autonomy of the child and the need to create a system and rules for mastering home preparation. The parent plays a crucial role as a motivator, assistant who controles the course of the homework process. en
