dc.description.abstract The theme of the study is the overlap of the roles of parent and teacher in the child's home preparation for schooling. The main objective of the qualitatively-oriented research survey was to describe how selected Czech parents-teachers perceive the home preparation of their child for schooling, and how this specific dual parent-teacher role manifests itself in the home preparation of their child for schooling. From in-depth interviews with selected parents, we extracted the categories of the overlap of the roles of mothers-teachers, and we describe the effects, seen by the parents, of help in home preparation, and methods of controlling the child while completing homework. In the contribution, we deal with the issue of a specific approach by parents-teachers which manifests itself in an effort to share experience and knowledge with the child beyond the scope of the content of ordinary teaching. At the same time, we're interested in the manner in which the roles of parent and teacher overlap in the child's home preparation for schooling. en
