dc.description.abstract This paper presents results of the utilization of single and multi chaos enhanced differential evolution (DE) algorithm in the task of PID controller design for the selected 4th order dynamical system. The aim of the paper is to highlight the advantages and disadvantages of utilizing such complex chaos enhanced heuristics for simple real life and fast optimization process. The results of four versions of chaos driven DE are compared with canonical DE versions, which do not utilize the chaos in the place of pseudo-random number generator. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2016. en
