dc.description.abstract This paper concerns with the problem of gathering data from a wireless multi-hop network of energy-constrained sensor nodes to a common base station. To extend lifetime of this network, a certain number of communication nodes are placed among the sensor nodes to relay the acquired data. The main contribution of this work lies in employment of an evolutionary algorithm to determine the best positions of relay nodes in network of randomly placed sensor nodes. en
