dc.description.abstract The case study focuses on the analysis of economic and physical accessibility and availability of food in the Czech Republic. Food security includes three main pillars - availability, access, and utilization. (Duram, 2011) There is precisely examined the area of access to food, in terms of affordability and in terms of the possibility of physical access to food, because in the Czech Republic the physical accessibility to food is ensured through a single network of retail stores very well, economical access - affordability, however, is lower for many population groups. Food security is defined as a condition where the physical and economic access to sufficient quantities of healthy and nutritionally balanced food is provided that meet the nutritional needs and preferences of the individual for his active and healthy life.
