Abstract

The need for training professionals who will be able to work with knowledge in companies and organizations and will be able to innovate their processes, leads to the reflection on the sources and content of instruction. The starting point is the experience gained in solving the MENTAL research project. The article describes the methodology used, problems of preparation of knowledge engineers and steps to create a knowledge base. It includes an information sources analysis; design, creation and verification of ontology; the insertion of the ontology into the software environment and complementation of the knowledge base. The content of instruction models the ways and procedures of research; it is based on an analysis of the documentation base and it results in the creation of the knowledge base. An emphasis is put on student independent work and their motivation by choosing a suitable example. The used TOVEK and AION companies' technology is described.
